You can mount it pole, between trees, wall to wall, wall to tree or wherever you want it. The hardware kit helps to strengthen your sun shade and make it more safety so that it will not be shaken or rocked by the freeze, strong wind or other bad weather conditions.

The turnbuckles allowed me to create the tension I needed to keep the sail taut, and the pieces have held up decently in my humid climate, at least for the week I've had it up. This was much more convenient than having to collect the appropriate pieces from my hardware store.
