Other winters we simply tie it back under the roof overhang. I love that I can have all the light I want some days and all the shade I want other days. Buying a pergola would not have allowed for that. If over the years these become too weathered, I anticipate I would purchase the exact same ones again.To install them, I bought wood that is the length of the exterior walls where I was going to hang these, painted the board, and installed these on that solid piece of wood to ensure it is fully secure.Highly recommend. My only wish is that the design had a feature to secure the shade at the opposite end, when is use. The slightest breeze will cause it to retract, little by little. This is not a reflection of the company. From what I can tell, none of these particular types of shades (from any brand) offer said feature.
